Hello, this is Eliza
My goal as an interior designer is equally about creating physical space as well as emotional space, in other words designing projects that elevate the experience of everyday living. My focus is on getting all the components of a space just right – layout, functionality, natural and artificial light, materials, furniture and decor.
I am passionate about transforming old, run-down properties or adding character and serenity to new ones. I work with natural textures and materials, layering neutral, tactile surfaces, pairing modern design elements with one-of-a-kind artisanal objects. The magic is in the mix and knowing how to make it all work seamlessly together.

from passion to profession
Founder and Studio Director Eliza Costabel has had a global upbringing across cultures and continents. A graduate in Interior Architectural Design from California State University (2003), she started her career at a large architecture firm in Los Angeles before setting up her design studio in the US and later in Kenya working on a mix of small and large projects in America, Asia, Africa and Europe,
This multicultural and broad background honed her skills and transformed her distinct approach to design. Upon returning to her native country of Malta in 2014, she set up Studio Nomad Interiors, merging her passion for interior design and the Mediterranean lifestyle.
Eliza personally designs and oversees every project, forming a strong bond with her clients and the teams of people who help bring each project to life. Studio Nomad provides services for new construction as well as renovation projects in residential and hospitality design.

I have two main obsessions: design and dogs. I have a natural talent for what looks good and balanced in a space, so if you are not gifted with the infamous ability to envision how things will look, don’t worry, I will be able to show your through renderings and presentations and if that is not possible, you can trust I will seek the best solution for your space, lifestyle and budget.

EXPERIENCE
I have been in this profession for over 20 years, going form the largest architecture firm in the world to the opposite end of the spectrum, running my own little studio. In between I have designed and travelled extensively for projects, gone to many trade-shows, dealt with all sorts of contractors, and sourced items from the fancy suppliers to tiny artisan workshops across the world. I can’t say I’ve seen it all, but we are surely getting there!
VERSATILITY
While I love being in my design bubble developing projects at the computer, I am also very hands-on and will spend a good amount of time on site checking progress and discussing with contractors and custom fabricators how to best do things. When it comes to sourcing the perfect finishes or decor, there are no limitations. Whether locally, in-house, on-line, across the globe or right in your garage, we will find what we need to make your project special and unique.
